Halloween at Hogwarts

Well, sort of. Our Halloween theme at SupCo was Harry Potter, so the lobby area was decorated with bits and pieces from the books:

The entrance was Platform 9¾. Fabric with a brick wall print was cut up so you had to go through it to get inside. Just like how Harry and his friends have to run through a magical wall to get to the Hogwarts Express.

Inside we hung candles and broomsticks from the ceiling, just like at Hogwarts, and even included a snitch!

We also set up a display of some of the items you might find at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, and also a sign for The Leaky Cauldron.

Apparently someone at work watches Martha (besides me, of course), and used Martha's idea of making silhouette cats and rats and having them run along the bottom of the counter.

Many of my co-workers dressed up as specific characters from the books. We had Harry, Prof. Flitwick, Prof. Snape, Mrs. Weasley, and Prof. McGonagall, just to name a few. I just came as a generic Hufflepuff student. It was a pretty easy costume - Hogwarts students just wear white shirts and black pants, which I already have. I used my college graduation robe for my student robe, printed out a Hufflepuff crest I found online and stuck it on with double stick tape. I also wore my witch's hat. I wore my hair in pigtails which made everyone think I'd come as Moaning Myrtle. I didn't intend to come as Moaning Myrtle, and I didn't think she was a Hufflepuff anyway.

We even had a Dementor.

It was a really fun day, but exhausting! The witch's hat kept trying to fly off when I was running around filing, so I gave up on that pretty quick, and the robe was hot, so I ditched it when I went to file at the Off-Site. By the end of the day everyone was just beat! Halloween is hard, y'all! Fun, but hard!

for what it's worth,
