Today was beautiful – sunny and warm! Mom and I walked up to the Sunken Gardens to see some local artist’s works and do some wine tasting at the Above the Grade Plein Air Festival.

It was a fairly small affair; probably because it was the first year they’ve had this festival and also because it was not well publicized. Mom and I happened to see the flyer in the winder of The ARTery when we were walking up to The Gathering Place a week or so ago and there was a tiny blurb in the paper last week, but otherwise nothing. Still, it was nice – there were two wineries (again more publicity would probably bring out more wineries) as well as a Paso Robles wine shop pouring various wines, a live band and a bar-b-que (the $40 cost – which is going to the Atascadero Art Association’s Scholarship Fund) included a commemorative wine glass and five tickets which could be used for wine tasting and for the bar-b-que.

I didn’t bother writing down what wines we tried, but every pour was delicious! There were tables set up in the shade, and mom and I just sat, sipped wine, had some yummy chicken kabobs, browsed the art tent and enjoyed the music. It was a wonderful, relaxing day!
