So, today is Easter, the day we celebrate our Saviour rising from the dead and saving us all from the horrors of spending eternity in hell. Thank you, Jesus! You rock!

Today is also my California aunt’s birthday AND my grandparents’ 69th wedding anniversary. Yes, you read that right: my grandparents have been married 69 years. In a row. To each other. I can’t even imagine living to be 69, let alone spend all that time with the same person. It’s very cool, and to celebrate all of these things (which have never fallen on the same day before, like, ever) we had a very nice little picnic on the back patio at my grandparents’ house. My California aunt and uncle were there as well as my cousin The Basketball Star and his girlfriend. It was a lovely, simple little gathering. The weather was perfect and we were not bothered by flies or meat-loving bees or other pests. It was a perfect day!

Our Easter/Birthday/Anniversary brunch.

Our Easter/Birthday/Anniversary brunch consisted of Kentucky Fried Chicken (requested specially by my grandpa), homemade potato salad, a green salad (both made by my California aunt and were delicious!), a relish tray with pickles, baby carrots and celery, garlic bread, and Jello mold with fruit cocktail and topped with Cool Whip.

And for dessert I topped an angelfood cake with fat free Cool Whip and blueberries. Simple and healthy! Did I already say it was a perfect day? I did, didn’t I? Well, it just was. Perfect.

Happy Easter! Happy Birthday! Happy Anniversary!
