But what a fabulous gardening season it’s been!!
You can tell it’s almost fall. Not because of the cooling temperatures, because we haven’t HAD any cool temperatures, but because the garden is fading fast.

We’re finally harvesting our honeydew melons. At least we thought they were honeydew melons – that’s what it said on the tag, and that’s what they look like from the outside.

But, when we cut one open, it looked – and kinda tasted – like a cantalope! It was still delicious, but we can’t quite figure out exactly what kind of melon it’s supposed to be!

Next up are the zucchini plants. They’ve kinda had an up-and-down summer – they did really well for a while, then they seemed to die off, then looked like they were making a comeback, and now … I just don’t know. There’s one or two little squash still trying to live, but I’m not holding my breath.

The cucumber plants are officially dead.

The peppers are going crazy! The plants look beautiful and they’re covered with beautiful green (and some red!) peppers!

Mom brought this monster red pepper in yesterday! I’m planning on roasting it with a couple of the green ones this weekend for dinner. Yum!

The tomato plants look okay, but the intense heat we’ve had recently is leaving us with ripe but mushy-bottomed toms. They’re basically worthless, which is quite sad. Still, more tomatoes are coming, and hopefully they weather will cool down soon, so they can ripen properly.

And finally, here’s some flowers that actually LIKE the heat!

Cheers!
